– Car Batteries
– Electronics
– Furniture
– Paint/Stain cans
– Oil or oil filters
– Hot ashes
– Grass clippings/garden waste (these are free to take to the transfer site)
– Dirt & rocks
– Concrete or bricks
– Hazardous materials
– Construction materials
– Propane tanks
BLUE RESIDENTIAL CARTS (RECYCLING):
ACCEPTED:
– Paper and cardboard (i.e. boxes (must be flattened), newspapers, flyer, printer paper, catalogues etc.)
– Shredded paper (must be in a clear plastic bag)
– Plastic containers numbered 1 through 7 (this excludes takeout containers and fruit/bakery clamshells due to food contamination)
– Empty beverage containers
– Tin and aluminum cans (must be rinsed and the label removed)
NOT ACCEPTED: – Styrofoam
– Lights bulbs or other glass
– Soiled cardboard or paper (i.e. pizza boxes)
– Hazardous chemical containers
– Scrap metal/car parts
– Plastic toys/household garbage
– Plastic wrap (Saran wrap) or wax paper
– Takeout containers
– Ceramics (i.e. dishware)
– Aerosol cans
– Paint cans
**NOTE: The Town pays a penalty for contaminated recycling. Help us avoid these costs by following the above guidelines. If you are unsure, please call the Town Office and we would be happy to help. General rule of thumb, “When in doubt, throw it out.”
