The addition to the Water Treatment Plant is fully complete, and there are only a few things left for the contractors on site to complete such as expanding the lab testing area used for completing water samples, painting the pipes and finishing up the remaining electrical. To date the WTP has gained a new addition, the MTU unit was brought in and installed, new lines were run for phone and power to complete the electrical work in the new addition and to supply the internet and phone connections required for security and the unit computer, the new well was put online and the old well decommissioned, and a new generator installed to support the system in the event of a power outage.
An official commissioning date is still pending; however, residents may have begun noticing a change in the water. The unit is functioning and has been producing RO water directly into the Town distribution system since early last week. It will take some time for the old water to be fully flushed out of the lines and the reservoir, but testing completed by our staff shows much of the town should already be receiving RO water!
For the first few months after commissioning, it is recommended to keep an eye on older water lines for any leaks. Old lines may have weak points that have been plugged by collections of sediment from hard water, and as the softer water clears this away it is possible for breaks to occur.
Keep an eye out for an official commissioning date!
